Intersecting Media & Science
I joined the NBCUniversal family in 2013 as the Health and Medical Producer at NBC Southern California (KNBC). This new career challenge marked the intersection of my passions for media and science. I was tasked with producing segments that covered a wide range of health, medical, and science topics, from cutting-edge medical innovations to infectious diseases and patient profiles.
In addition to writing, editing, and producing these segments, I also worked closely with our team of reporters to ensure that we delivered timely and accurate information to our viewers. We produced medical explainers and educational content to help our viewers make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
As a journalist and storyteller, I always sought to bring a human perspective to our stories. I looked for ways to personalize medical and scientific breakthroughs and showcase these developments' impact on real people's lives. This approach not only made our content more engaging, but also helped to inspire our viewers to take an active role in their health.
While working at KNBC, I gained invaluable experience in health and medical journalism. I learned how to communicate complex medical information clearly and compellingly and leverage media to inform and educate the public on important health topics.
I remain committed to this intersection of media and science and am excited to continue exploring opportunities to combine my skills and interests in this area.
