Reinventing Journalism & Visual Storytelling

As the Director of Storytelling and Managing Editor for NBCLX / LX News, I had the privilege of leading a talented team of storytellers and overseeing all of the network's pre-produced editorial content. NBCLX was the result of a unique challenge: Could we reinvent visual and digital storytelling and transform the traditional production of broadcast news? And could we develop a newscast and network that would resonate with a younger, more diverse audience? The answer was NBCLX and LX News.

NBCLX become a national model and success story, demonstrating how journalism can be more authentic, more immersive, and more inclusive. As a team, we were committed to telling stories that matter, and to presenting them in a way that engages and informs our audience. We believed, and still do, in the power of storytelling to connect people and to foster understanding, and we strive to elevate voices and perspectives that might otherwise go unheard.

One of our core goals at NBCLX was to create content that would resonate with younger, more diverse audiences. Through our work, we have shown that this approach can be successful, and that there is a hunger for news and information that is engaging, relevant, and inclusive.

We created a platform that celebrated ideas, asked provocative questions and pushed the limits of visual storytelling. We challenged the traditional notions of what news and media can and should be.
