Simplifying Complex Ideas
My lifelong fascination with health, medicine, and science has led me down many exciting paths throughout my career. As a journalist, writer, content creator, and communications expert, I have consistently sought opportunities to integrate my talents with my passion for the medical field.
One of the most rewarding opportunities was my tenure as the inaugural Communications Manager for Kaiser Permanente's Educational Theatre Program. In this role, I developed the program's first communications, marketing, and public relations plans and programs. Because of my work, I helped turn a hidden gem into a public success story, increasing awareness of the program and its impact on the community.
Later, when I was promoted to Senior Communications Specialist and Managing Editor, I reimagined Kaiser Permanente's corporate communications materials, including developing a new regional employee newsletter and intranet web portal. I also collaborated with senior leadership on speeches and presentations and took photographs used on the company's communications platforms.
I learned the importance of effective communication in the healthcare industry through my work at Kaiser Permanente. I saw firsthand how communication can play a vital role in motivating and recognizing the accomplishments of the staff, improving patient outcomes, and driving organizational success. And I had the opportunity to use my skills and expertise to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students throughout the region and KP's patients.
My experience at Kaiser Permanente was a powerful reminder of the importance of integrating passion with profession. By combining my lifelong fascination with health, medicine, and science with my talents as a journalist and communications expert, I made a meaningful impact in the healthcare industry and brought about positive change in the lives of patients and providers.
